Child Safety in the Garage

Now that the weather is warming up and you’re more likely to start spending more time in your garage, it’s important to remember to keep a close eye on your children in order to keep them safe while in the garage.

• Make sure that the garage door’s sensor is working; place a roll of paper towels under the open garage door, and try to shut it. It should immediately open back up before causing any damage to the paper towels.
• Keep chemicals locked up out of the reach of children and pets. Some liquids, like antifreeze, can be deadly but taste sweet. Give yourself peace of mind by locking them up in a cabinet or storing them up high.
• Make sure that your child can’t knock over precariously placed piles of clutter. Not only can these damage your car, but they can injure your child!
